Last week I was lucky enough to go to the new Aquatics Centre in the Olympic park to watch diving. In fact synchronised mens diving. (Men in tight trunks. Part of test events for the London Prepares Series) Quite incredible. 2 men dive off a 50 m board in perfect unison. Amazing.
In between sets of dives we went and bought a coffee. Mistake. Two quid buys you a revolting cup of something that only resembles a cup of coffee in appearance. Milk comes in tiny little plastic sachet tubes, that were impossible to open and everyone needed about 9 of them in each cup.
This is the menu. Is this really the state of catering at the Olympics? It’s too late to moan, BUT, we could’ve had the big guns of fast food AND local cafes and food outlets, showing the amazing QUALITY in the East end and beyond. This experience was depressing and a nonsense.
The fit bodies of those divers didn’t consume this rubbish and nor should you. If you’re going, make yourself a packed lunch of something you will really, really enjoy.
…….BOO!……..!.. Food brought into the Olympic Park was restricted, but possible for the test events, BUT! UPDATE….26th April 2012…..For the Olympic Games……..
- 19.2.3
- The following is a non-exhaustive list of restricted items which may not be taken into a Venue (LOCOG reserves the right to amend this list, generally, or in respect of any Venue or Session): food (save for baby food), alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages (save for baby milk and other valid medical reasons), liquids in containers of greater than 100ml in size, …..
…….Bollocks!…….So, yes, sorry, a packed lunch was a lovely idea…..forget it….be warned…..you’ll have to eat nonsense there……
