Delicious Magazine November 2010 – Celebrate the knobbly!

Delicious magazine has started a campaign, (supported by the National Trust) to celebrate all things, (well fruit and veg) knobbly.

What Delicious is demanding, is that we get rid of the current classification system so farmers can easily sell ALL of their good quality, even if knobbly or under/oversized, produce.

Surely then this will mean less waste and hopefully cheaper for us the consumer and a good move away from perfection.

Their suggestion is:

To buy more produce that is marked Class II or ‘for cooking.’

Write to MEPS to ask the European Parliament to ditch the ridiculous classification for fruit and veg. Template available at http://www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/knobbly-veg

They asked me to write four vegetable recipes to accompany the launch of this campaign.

Pot Roast Vegetables in Red Wine
Garlic and Ginger Vegetable Dauphinoise
Warm Roast Vegetable Salad with Hazelnuts and Rose Harrissa
Crumbed Carrots with Frothy Mint and Lemon hollandaise
